About this deal

It's suitable for adults and children aged 12 and over and contains paracetamol, phenylephrine hydrochloride, and guaifenesin. The rate of absorption of paracetamol may be increased by metoclopramide or domperidone and absorption may be reduced by cholestyramine. You should consult your doctor if you think you may have a health problem or before you start taking a new medicine.

Lemsip is a powerful medicine providing symptomatic relief for a blocked nose and other symptoms of common colds. Phenylephrine hydrochloride: Phenylephrine is a post-synaptic alpha-receptor agonist with low cardioselective beta-receptor affinity and minimal central stimulant activity. Patients with rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption or sucrase-isomaltase insufficiency should not take this medicine. If required the patient should be given intravenous N-acetylcysteine, in line with the established dosage schedule. The product should not be used during pregnancy unless recommended by a healthcare professional (see section 4.

Symptoms of paracetamol overdose in the first 24 hours are pallor, nausea, vomiting, anorexia and abdominal pain. If vomiting is not a problem, oral methionine may be a suitable alternative for remote areas, outside hospital. We are always trying to reduce our waste and would love to hear your suggestions on how we could improve! Paracetamol, Phenylephrine Hydrochloride, Ascorbic Acid, Citric Acid, Sucrose, Aspartame, Sodium Citrate, Saccharin Sodium, Curcumin, Lactose, Polysorbate, Silica, Caster Sugar and Lemon Flavour. Treatment with N-acetylcysteine may be used up to 24 hours after ingestion of paracetamol, however, the maximum protective effect is obtained up to 8 hours post-ingestion.

Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (including moclobemide): hypertensive interactions occur between sympathomimetic amines such as phenylephrine and monoamine oxidase inhibitors (see section 4. Patients with rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, the Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take this medicine. For the relief of symptoms of cold and influenza, including the relief of aches and pains, sore throat, headache, nasal congestion, lowering of temperature and chesty coughs. Phenylephrine overdose is likely to result in: nervousness, headache, dizziness, insomnia, increased blood pressure, nausea, vomiting, mydriasis, acute angle closure glaucoma (most likely to occur in those with closed angle glaucoma), tachycardia, palpitations, allergic reactions (e.Care is advised in the administration of paracetamol to patients with severe renal or severe hepatic impairment. It retains activity as a nasal decongestant when given orally, the drug distributing through the systemic circulation to the vascular bed of the nasal mucosa. In severe poisoning, hepatic failure may progress to encephalopathy, haemorrhage, hypoglycaemia, cerebral oedema, and death.

There have been reports of blood dyscrasias including thrombocytopenia, leucopenia, pancytopenia, nutropenia and agranulocytosis, but these were not necessarily causally related to paracetamol. Management of patients who present with serious hepatic dysfunction beyond 24 hours from ingestion should be discussed with the NPIS or a liver unit. Symptoms may be limited to nausea or vomiting and may not reflect the severity of overdose or the risk of organ damage.Paracetamol: Paracetamol has both analgesic and antipyretic activity, which is believed to be mediated principally through its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis within the central nervous system. If you've tried over-the-counter solutions and they're not sufficiently alleviating your mucus cough and catarrh symptoms, it would be prudent to consult your doctor or a pharmacist for further treatments. If you experience any of the following side effects stop taking it immediately and contact your doctor. Guaifenesin is one of its active ingredients that loosens and thins phlegm, promoting mucus clearance.
